The first Pike Logan novel from New York Times bestselling author Brad Taylor. They call it the Taskforce. Commissioned at the highest level of the U.S. government. Protected from the prying eyes of Congress and the media. Designed to operate outside the bounds of U.S. law. Trained to exist on the ragged edge of human capability.
Pike Logan was the most successful operator on the Taskforce, his instincts and talents unrivaled—until personal tragedy permanently altered his outlook on the world. Pike knows what the rest of the country might not want to admit: The real threat isn’t from any nation, any government, any terrorist group. The real threat is one or two men, controlled by ideology, operating independently, in possession of a powerful weapon.
Buried in a stack of intercepted chatter is evidence of two such men. The transcripts are scheduled for analysis in three months. The attack is mere days away. It is their bad luck that they’re about to cross paths with Pike Logan. Because Pike Logan has nothing left to lose.

Very Good Read
I bought this book because I was bored and needed something to read. I was pleasantly surprised when I read it. I was expecting something other than well written characters, events smoothly flowing from one to the next, and underdog villains trying to make a name for themselves and ending up going way over their heads. I also got a little bit of a shock when the main character’s real name was revealed! It was bonkers, but I loved it. The worst part of this book was the switching between first and third person. Fortunately the story and writing was strong enough so that the switches didn’t ruin the reading.

Pretty good...
Well written, and crisp action. The only reason I went with three stars is because at times the main character is a real terrorism specialist, yet at other times he acts like he has no idea that terrorism even exists... He has to practically get beat over the head with pretty obvious evidence... I do like it enough to move to the next book in the series...

One Rough Man
Brad Taylor is a worthy successor to Vince Flynn, and Pike Logan the best character since Mitch Rapp. The fast-paced story keeps you turning pages and the three-dimensional characters that Taylor has crafted take on a life if their own as this altogether believable story unfolds. Taylor's real life experience in this world shines through in the realism if his imagery, narration, and dialog. This is a welcome jolt of real world adrenaline in a genre packed with wannabe "operators." Taylor's Pike Logan is the real thing.

A Tough Man an outstanding read
All references that this is a first novel are suspect. I am a fan of this genre and ATM ranks up there with the star writers. It is exciting from the beginning and relieves the pressure only at the end. I can only fault one thing. I am short some sleep because I absolutely could not put it down until I was finished. The conclusion relieved my fear for the principal characters and the organization AND ALSO GAVE ME A CHANCE TO GET SOME RACK TIME. Thank you, Brad; you are a BARD.

Good story, very exciting, moves like jet, believable characters but they are very lucky. Could be a little more believable, but yet a great fun read, one that you cannot put down. Looking forward to his next book.

The book didn't get moving until Part 4 and then it really rolled to a great end. Writing was not complex , almost too simple and contrived, full of cliches, more for the younger, gung-ho reader.

Not bad debut, but far from great.
Slow start and at times the plot line becomes B.S. even for a fiction book. However, not bad to put in your rotation. He is not Flynn, Thor, or Coonts but it is an interesting read. Give it a try.

Great Storyline about Special Ops missions. Right words, right bad guys and right good guys. They're human, focused and flawed. Pike is the best and falls from the top. Written off by everyone, he can't get better because he blames himself for his family's murder. He's spiraled to the bottom as an angry drunk. A chance encounter becomes the mission of his life. A graduate student steps in to protect Pike from a beating. Her uncle discovers an ancient poison and Islamic terrorists want it. Suddenly Pike finds himself protecting the beautiful student when hired guns think she has the poison. From Guatamala to Belize to DC to Bosnia, She and Pike seek the truth and discover a terrorist cell bent on unleashing a WMD. The US govt doesn't believe it and Pike is on his own to prevent a third world war. While they chase the terrorists, someone is chasing them and intent on only one thing--their destruction. Non-stop action that only a former operator can describe. You'll find yourself looking up the names of the weapons and hurrying back to read what's next. This is the only book I've ever read that I put down just to imagine what I just read. It's a great read.

One Rough Man
Good story, very exciting, moves like jet, believable characters but they are very lucky. Could be a little more believable, but yet a great fun read, one that you cannot put down. Looking forward to his next book.

One Rough Man, kind of rough
The book didn't get moving until Part 4 and then it really rolled to a great end. Writing was not complex , almost too simple and contrived, full of cliches, more for the younger, gung-ho reader.

It started a little slow but by the middle I could not put it down, waiting till I get to the end.

One Rough Man-great story
What a great story. It was hard to put down, I just wanted to keep reading it to find out what happened next. For all who like thrillers I highly recommend this book.

Not bad debut, but far from great.
Slow start and at times the plot line becomes B.S. even for a fiction book. However, not bad to put in your rotation. He is not Flynn, Thor, or Coonts but it is an interesting read. Give it a try.

One Rough Man
Great Storyline about Special Ops missions.

Page turner
Once you get past the cliche set up, this is a terrific page turner.

I liked the storyline, the flow, and the believability. I will be reading more of this series.

Awesome. Read it. Hard to put down.

I don't know how it took me so long to discover Brad Taylor's Pike Logan series but I'm certainly a fan after reading One Rough Man. Realistic, Informative and entertaining. Looking forward to reading the entire series.

Move over Vince Flynn, Brad Thor and Alex Berenson and make room for Brad Taylor. Absolutely a great read. Nail biting action at the turn of each page. Ready to read the next book involving Pike Logan
